Left,Right,Left,Right..................!

Please do not mistake the above subject as the Rhythm of a Republic Day Parade at India Gate,New Delhi What I was attempting to bring about&put forward was the the true Rhythm of the Changing Governments in the State of Kerala. A regular&common feature with Left&Right Governments is when the left rules they blame right for their own lapses&vice versa. This has become a fashion or rather a habit irrespective of the fact whether Left or Right rules Kerala There is yet another common Fashion. Both the Governments highlight the sufferrings of the poor to blame each other. A typical example of this is concerning the poor&uneducated tribal people of Attapadi whom both the Left&Right launch as a platform to fight. But neither does anything useful or helpful to the Poor. The principle of Rich become richer&the poor become poorer is strictly followed by both Left&Right. Adivasis at a hill place called Attapadi is the most innocent&deserving poor people of Kerala.Although both Left and Right preach unendingly ,they equally forget to put what they preached into practice with the result that the fate of Adivasis remain constant.Their state of mind is like a Frog in a well which thinks that the well is the whole world around them. A case of Mal Nutrition is the one immediately enter into the mind of everyone.Since December 2012 18 Infants have died in Attapadi. Most of them two&a half year months old. Records with the IntegralTribalDevelopmentProgramme(ITDP) office show the bsbies "did not havethe ability to inbibe Nutrition" Findings of a "Mega" Medical camp conducted by the Health Department at the Tribal Speciality Hospital at Kottathara on April 20 2013 were simply startling! 536 of 836 people from the Scheduled Tribes who participated suffered from Mal Nutrition and Anaemia.125 of them were children below 5 years of age. The reasons for the dismaying Statistics can be found in the debris of welfare projects across Attapady over the years. One of them is Attapady Hills Area Development Society(AHADS)Set up with a financial aid of Rs 219 Crore from the Japan International Cooperation Agency in 1994 under the Rural Devolopment Ministry,AHADS began work two years later with the sole objective of introducing"ecological stability and social engeering through tribal people's participation." By 2005,the society had reclaimed 1,000 Hectares of Green cover. It created 190 micro-watersheds and four macro-Watersheds{Much larger complex as a whole} on tribal lands. However,AHADS came to a standstill in 2010-2011.The funds were simply not being received by the Society.About 80 Adivasi Staffers who lost their jobs after AHADS became defunct, are fighting the Government for work. Apart from this ,a Rs195 Crores agricultural package announced by the Kerala State Government in 2010 was diverted to the Agricultural Department.A Rs15 crores scheme to "uplift"the primitive "Kurumba" Tribe went to the Tribal Department. But the benefit of both this schemes have not reached the tribal people as yet. A mobile Health Unit of AHADS used to visit all 183 Tribal hamlets once in three months. But ,post the malnutrition deaths,a half-baked attempt has been made to revive the society.Though a new name Centre for Comprehensive&Participatory Resource Management(CCPRM)was given no significant progress reported by anyone..The scheme was ,however, also decided to be extended to other Panjayats. But except for the new Name, the AHADS-CCPRM as is being called now,no funds were allotted to it. The Health officials were understood to have preferred the denial of infant deaths while the Doctors at the 40 bedded Hospital at Kottathara blamed the Tribals for their life style beig the cause for the deaths. At present there are 85 Accredited Health Activists(ASHA) at Attapadi. Though the responsible people are good at giving good names nothing constructive to the cause appears to have done. In a nut shell the Tribal people of Attapady are still struggling &fighting for their right. The Marching of the Poor people go on "Left,Right,Left,Right".But this time it is not for dethroning the CM but for Securing their Rights recognized!! 1. Shame on the Governments - this is a crime and there should be criminal charges on people who stand in the way of basic requirements of life...
